Dignity, Service, Graciousness & Conviviality - Since 1927

The Girl Friends, Incorporated

President's Greeting

Greetings from Our National President

Greetings and welcome to the official website of The Girl Friends®, Inc.! In 1927, Eunice Shreeves invited four dear friends to gather around a pot of stew to establish a bond that would transcend transitions to college, marriage and adulthood. Those original Girl Friends created a legacy of intentional friendship that not only endured but flourished. Since that first meal, we have grown to over 2000 Girl Friends in 49 chapters covering 26 states. Dignity, Graciousness, Service and Conviviality remain the core pillars of our intergenerational membership from the Mother Chapter, New York, to the 49th Chapter, Scottsdale.

While we serve our communities as individuals, chapters and as a national organization, our prime directive is friendship. According to the American Psychological Association, friendships play a vital role in our psychological well-being. Psychology Today notes that healthy, supportive friendships help reduce stress, increase a sense of belonging, and act as a critical buffer during difficult life transitions. I am grateful that our commitment to intentional friendship has sustained our Girl Friends through the best and worst of times since 1927.

As the 40th National President, I stand on the shoulders of 39 visionary and girlfriendly women who preceded me. Leading our diverse, multi-generational and fabulous membership as Girl Friends glide glamorously into our second century is one of the highest honors of my life. I look forward to Centennial conviviality, collective service, but most of all, continued intentional friendship with my Girl Friends!

In Friendship,

Girl Friend Kobi Kennedy Brinson
